Nov and Dec were pretty busy with the holidays and traveling a bit. We did some fun things and took pictures of things when we remembered our camera!
Our friend has a climbing wall in his garage and once a week, if it works out, we head over there to hang out and climb. It's way fun and by the end our forearms are on fire! Even after all this practice we still struggle ;-) but it's fun to climb and hang out with friends
We went down to St. George the first week of Nov. to watch my little sister play in a softball tournament. We had an afternoon, so we took off to Zion Nat. Park. We had my two brothers with me who had never hiked to Angels Landing before, so of course we had to because it's so amazing!!!
The trail is amazing the whole way, but once you get to the ridge its 1000 ft. cliffs on both sides with a chain to hold on to. It really is a good trail and if you are careful and watch yourself it's totally fine. This is the ridge line that you follow all the way to the top!
My little brother Gunner who is growing up way too fast!!! He's already 13 and almost taller than me! He loved the hike though... being 13 he did complain the whole way up and once we got there he laid on the ground and said "I'm going to die!" You know just your typical teenage stuff ;-) but he really did enjoy it and said he would do it again. Crazy huh!
My brothers: Gunner, Jordan, and Me.
Driving out of the park we hit the sunlight just right for a sunset picture illuminating the red rocks.
My little sister, Addie, tearing it up down in St. George playing for the Hot Shots!
Not only is she a great fielder, but an awesome hitter as well. She got a double on this at bat.
We then went to California for Thanksgiving to see my brand new, barely born niece, Ashlyn. It was a way fun trip and good to see Jer and Stef and their two girls.
Ellia is so much fun to play with. She has the greatest personality and the biggest smile!
And this is Ashlyn, the cutest thing in the world! She was only 3 weeks old in this picture. She was so fun to hold and so little, I forgot how tiny they are!!!
Of course we had to hit the Kern River while we were down there. Sarah and Jordan (the soon to be newlyweds), Jeremy, Gunner, Mallary, Greg
We also went to the Buck Owens Crystal Palace! Country singer/legend, Buck Owens, built this place in his home town of Bakersfield, CA to bring in different country singers from around the USA. Everyone from Johnny Cash, Willie Neilson, Brad Paisly, and many more (including Elvis) came to sing here. You get dinner and a show and if you're up for it... some country dancing! We had a great time and really enjoyed the environment and entertainment.
Up Mt Olympus!!! It's one of my favorite mountains because it's late getting snow and the snow melts early, making it very assessible!
The view was amazing!
What was even more amazing was looking back down to the valley. Yep that is a view of all that gross smog engulfing the city. It was so nice to breathe fresh air!
We finally got our bathroom done!
Greg and his bother Nate did the tile and then we painted and put in the floor boards and couple of other things. I love it and think it's so cute!!!
Where to captain? It was time for our yearly christmas tradition!!! One of my favorites is going and getting a tree. Yes, I have to have a real tree. It's one of those things that make it Christmas for me. We were able to get a permit, so we got out the snowshoes and headed up the canyon to cut one down.
We snowshoed up a ways and made a fun trip out of it. We found the perfect little tree for our low ceiling. We had a great time getting back, we had to cross two streams, one was a little bigger and deeper, but luckily we found an ice bridge to cross and didn't fall through ;-) But it was way fun and started the Christmas spirit going! We threw the tree on the car and headed home to put it up....
The finished project! Don't you just love Christmas trees!!!
Quick Get Away
We needed a little break from the smog, school, work, and the city. We headed down to one of our favorite spots in Utah for a quicky over nighter trip. We were not expecting all this snow but it made for a beautiful view ;-)
In the morning when we got up, we found this image screaming take a picture of me!!! So of course I had to and I was not disappointed.
We went on a hike through the snow up a side canyon. It was such a good trip to get away from the Christmas shopping and stress.
Christmas!
Dinner Christmas eve at the Gillespie's
Got the whole family in the kitchen frosting and decorating the sugar cookies!
Greg got this awesome picture and frame of him water skiing in lake powell. Thanks Sarah!
Another tradition... Have to eat Christmas Crunch before you open presents in the morning!!!
Greg's first ice axe! Can't wait till spring to take it up on timp and try it out!!!
I was totally spoiled with a new ski jacket and a heart rate monitor!!! Now I can really see how well I'm doing with my workouts and keep my heart rate with in a specific range for best results!
We also went up to Greg's grandma's house for dinner with the whole family and had a great time stuffing ourselves, playing white elephant, and talking. Overall it was a great Christmas filled with family and friends, foods, and real fun stuff to give and receive.
