Work hard for the Weekend!

Amazing Exposed Magnificent Raw Grand Rugged Beautiful Bare Unforgiving Wild

It is....

Wind River Range, Wyoming

If we ever move to Wyoming, this is where it'll be! Can't beat the view that horse has everyday.

The hike in was about 10 miles and beautiful!

Island Lake is where we camped and this is what we woke up to in the morning and closed our eyes to in the evening.

Nights were a little cold, as always. We would wake up to frost and frozen ground every morning.

The fishing was very good.

We even pulled out a couple big ones, 20 + inches! One was a Golden Trout, my first one ever!!!

Fremont Peak

We took a hike up to Fremont Pk 13,745' the 3rd tallest in Wyoming

When we got to the ridge, looking down the other side at these glacially carved cliffs and lakes.

Greg getting up a tricky part ;-)

Made it to the top! There was a huge glacier running down the backside of the mountain.

Looking north we could see the Grand Tetons.

Made it!

Had to sign in at the top!

Fremont Peak, and yes, somehow we made it to the top of that thing! Way fun hike.

John and Greg sporting deer hunting orange shirts. Greg got John to try out fly fishing for a bit.

It was considered fall up there at the time. Some of the leaves were beautifully colored. I just loved this rock. I love seeing plants grow in places that are unlikely. For instance take this rock. Wonderful granite boulder with a crack right down the top. With a little bit of dirt accumulated and a seed or two blown in, this beautiful flower grows and thrives taking up the entire crack.

John and Greg working their navigational skills!

We cooked a couple fish on the fire this night. I was actually able to eat some without feeling overly nauseated! Had a great time with John and Corianne, we were so glad they came up to camp with us. We've really missed them since they've moved.

We believe a bear came through our camp the last night. Our pots were about 30 ft from our stove and this wind guard was mangled, had teeth marks through it, and was pretty far from the stove as well.

One of the more beautiful areas that we've filtered water!

Making the long trek back out

Colorado River

We finally got down to Moab to kayak the mighty Colorado. It was a blast and the views are amazing down there! The river was low so our 2.5 hour trip turned into a 5 hour long trip on the river. I got the worst tan line!!! It looked like I put my arms up to my elbows into a bucket of paint! Had a great time, enjoyed the rapids. There was only one rapid that was kinda big and fun, the rest were nice and mellow.

We both just love this area of the state!

Unfortunately I recorded the wrong rapid. I thought this was the big one, but it definitely wasn't. When we hit the big one I wasn't ready with the camera. One of these days I'll get some good footage!

Homeward bound, back to work, school, and life as we know it!
